APRIL 2023 Committee Meeting

MEETING NOTES

Historic Designation Committee Meeting
Wednesday April 26, 2023, 7pm

Emily Taff, Historic Designation Committee Chair, began the meeting via Zoom, 12 people in attendance

Review draft schedule - Aaron Fortner

• 4 Public Meetings that are deep dives on specific topics that will be covered by the regulations. 
• draft production based on discussions and input from Phase 1 as well as the ongoing input gathering and discussions.
• public meetings to revise draft regulations

Discussion:

• make sure there is a good way to collect input (comments, questions, opinions both general and specific) during and after these meetings. This will likely be in the form of a survey/comment form, but probably should not be a voting format at this stage in the process.
• if meetings are in person they will need to also be via Zoom in order to make them available to as many participants as possible. Zoom for participation is preferable to a simple livestream.
• the 1st draft outline will be written by Aaron and the committee based on the input we would have received so far.
• all potential regulations should be looked at critically as we try to avoid unintended consequences, possible cost assessments, etc.  
• Aaron pointed out that this schedule of public meetings is a proposal, nothing is “set in stone” and, along the way, if we see more discussion or more drafts, meetings, etc, are needed, we can have them. 

Those in attendance briefly introduced themselves. Mix of previous committee members and new participants.

Emily Taff reviewed the roles and specific tasks of the committee which had been circulated before hand and are posted online.

• new and existing members were assigned roles on the committee
• all public meetings will have comprehensive meeting notes and recordings of the meetings made available to the public so that those who cannot be there will be able to follow along later.
• we may investigate the use of Otter AI for these comprehensive notes if needed

Monthly meetings were set for the 4th Wednesday of the month.

Next Steps:

• create an adjusted draft schedule for public meetings
• draft a plan for gathering input during and after public meetings, especially if these are hybrid meetings 

The next meeting will be Wednesday, May 24.
